What’s So Great About Choice Mapping?

Choice Mapping

The process of Choice Mapping has evolved over years of exploring choices, it was never something I set out to create. Because I share many stories and reference the concept of mapping in The Book of Choice, I wanted to share more about it with you—what it is, how it came to be and how it can be helpful to you.

First, what is Choice Mapping?

If you’re struggling with a decision, Choice Mapping can assist you.

It’s a visual representation of a singular choice you made, are making or will make. On one piece of paper, you can capture all of the details that relate to your choice. Your map branches out to answer questions like why the choice matters to you, what fears could get in your way, what may become possible for you, and what actions you’ll take to bring your choice to life.

Why do I love Choice Mapping?

I love the intention Choice Mapping brings.

Creating a map encourages you to dive deeper and contemplate your choices with mindfulness. Maps are a powerful tool that help you become your own guide, guiding you from where you are to where you want to go. Maps bring together all the details of a choice, organizing them for easy access and review. By bringing intentionality to your choices, you can make informed decisions thoughtfully, with confidence and clarity.

What’s so great about Choice Mapping?

While the answers to some questions might be complex, the process is simple:

  • Use a map to gain clarity and guidance through difficult decisions
  • Capture all you’re navigating about your choice on one page for easy reference
  • Gain insight, self-awareness and be more present in the moment
  • Ask yourself insightful questions (and listen for your intuitive answers) and document your thoughts
  • Review your map as a resource to stay on a meaningful path

How did Choice Mapping come to be?

A decade ago, I started exploring choices using a mind-mapping software and was captivated by the outcome. As friends witnessed my maps, they began requesting their own, which prompted me to refine the process. Encouraged by my book editor, I documented my method, aiming to make it accessible to all. Through simplification, what was once complex became an integral part of my book, shaping its pages with invaluable insights. The rest is history.

Lastly, how can Choice Mapping help you?

Mapping supports you to uncover the truth behind your choices.

Through thoughtful questions and succinct answers, you capture your truth in the moment. If your words don’t resonate, you have the opportunity to adjust them until they do. Mapping empowers you to refer back to your choice easily, grounding yourself in the why behind your actions.
