My very first map set me on my journey of exploring choices – both mine and others. The arrow on the left notes a choice I made in 2013 to attend an out-of-the-box coaching event. From that event, and the people I met, more opportunities and people began to show up.
Creating this map provided me with a concrete vehicle to document and make sense of seemingly unrelated ideas and experiences floating in my head which allowed me to see how they were related. Each branch represents a new person, experience or opportunity that I either created intentionally or that showed up magically.
Mapping Gratitude: What are you grateful for right now?
This map captures about two years of my life and when I reviewed it, on one piece of paper, I noticed two very different vantage points. When I focused on the right side of the page, the end of the map, and scanned left, back to the beginning, over all the branches that had transpired in a short period, I felt immense gratitude for all that I had brought into my life and that effortlessly showed up.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I again focused on the right side, where the branches end, but this time looked right, into the distance, the future, and the blank space, I felt giddy with excitement about the possibility of what might fill that future space. What choice could I make today that would lead to an entirely new map of opportunities and people that would come into my life?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As the new year begins it’s a perfect time to consider what choice you want to make today that may create momentum. Different than a goal which sits in the distance as a place to arrive, a choice is a springboard providing you with a place to start.
